2020/21: Imad Rondić

Credentials

Only Mosquera, Pešek or Sadílek leaving allowed for this honour to go to the Bosnian, but it doesn't take away from his genuine breakout to the tune of 13 goal contributions, including 9 important points, and team-leading 6.45 expected points added.

2021/22: Ch. Frýdek

Credentials

After basically skipping the whole 20/21, Christian Frýdek was immediately a difference-maker at Slovan, leading the team in chance-creating actions (22 to 15), landing in the league's top 15th percentile for expected assists as the team's lone solid set piece taker.

2022/23: Ch. Frýdek

Credentials

The reigning MVP took it up a notch in his sophomore year at Slovan, registering the 4th highest rate in both xA and chance/goal-creating actions. His 10 points, 18 goal contributions shot him up to 10th place on the league's MVP leaderboard after he was merely 59th overall the year prior.

2023/24: Luka Kulenović

Credentials

Liberec fans are no strangers to falling in love quickly before the love is taken away from them suddenly, as was the case with Olatunji or later Eneme. Kulenović got progressively better and more comfortable in his first and only year, ultimately bagging 6 of his 7 goals against Top 6 while contributing deep down.

2024/25: Michal Hlavatý

Credentials

Sick and injured towards the end, Hlavatý didn't do much beyond Round 22, but before that, he was as valuable as ever to a Kováč's team. At the season's end, he still led the team in chances created and was joint-second in goal contributions (12), but I split the honours between him and the spring sensation Šimon Gabriel.

This and last season have got a peculiar common denominator for Slovan Liberec: a home autumn loss to arch rivals from Jablonec nad Nisou, after which alarm bells began blaring around coach Radoslav Kováč. The key difference lies…
