2020/21: Adam Hložek

Credentials

Not even 4-5 months on the sidelines could stop Adam Hložek, the most dominant Czech teenager since forever. Five MotM honours from Deník Sport as well as their average mark of 6.9 led the team, while he contributed to an incredible 27 goals out of the 53 he was on the pitch for (ie. 50.9%), celebrating every 28.5 minutes.

2021/22: Dávid Hancko

Credentials

The summer before, I wondered whether his hefty pricetag was justified. Turns out a fully healthy Dávid Hancko absolutely can move the needle, both as a centre back and a left back, grading out as 7th, 5th, 7th and 1st in all four areas of one centre back’s game. Complete.

2022/23: Lukáš Haraslín

Credentials

In a Ladislav Krejčí snub, I went with the man who made the remarkable turnaround happen. Haraslín wasn’t part of the early-season struggles, mostly really participating on 21-game-long Sparta’s unbeaten streak. On the first try, his pair of assists helped to silence revolting Pardubice; on the fourth try, he posted 1+1 to slash Slovácko; on the fifth try, he knocked out Budějovice with a sole goal of the last autumn game...

2023/24: V. Birmančević

Credentials

A collective triumph of the formidable triumvirate. Kuchta landed a helping hand to the most goals (33 when you count indirect contributions), Haraslín and Birmančević were the only Sparta players per my models who dominated the most on their positions. Who then? The closing argument: 16 of Birmančević’s 27 points coming in close game states.

2024/25: Lukáš Haraslín

Credentials

What could've been, had Lukáš Haraslín managed to make himself available for more than just the 44.7% of the time? In just over 15.5 appearances, Haraslín got shortlisted for the official Team of the Week twelve times, delivered as many vital goals as Šulc (8), almost as many goal contributions as Matěj Vydra (16 to 17), fetching marginally less expected points (11.5) than Ewerton or Chorý.

Brian Priske is no Messiah. The boring reality of his return to the club he’d led to two titles — one shocking, one dominant — is that this campaign could’ve gone a lot better, but also much worse. With the model shaving just one victory off Sparta’s summer…

2025/26 team preview: AC Sparta Praha

You’re not supposed to step into the same river twice — but Brian Priske isn’t much for proverbs, as evidenced by his less-than-blessed attempt to prove that the grass is greener in Rotterdam. Just a year after guiding Sparta to a long-awaited double, he’s back at Letná, undeterred…
