One of the staple sections of my previews has always been the New kid on the block, a reader favourite, that aims to highlight an up-and-coming, fresh face (typically young-ish depending on club) with a genuine shot at making a splash in the top flight. It always means juggling both the talent/skill (ie. not highlighting just anybody) and the window of opportunity (ie. competition the player is facing), which makes it both a fun and a tricky exercise; one I am now extremely curious to re-visit myself, honestly.
A quick note on the “methodology”: explosions and busts are just my view of them, based on the one season they were highlighted for alone, not considering the rest of the kids’ careers. Same goes for anything in between (the battery icon), whereby key factors considered also include what the kid did for the particular club (in case there is a mid-season transfer) or age (the younger they are, the more slack they get). Finally, the appearances are not career appearances per se; they are strictly CZ top flight only.
